- The WinGD X52 diesel engine successfully completed its Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Type Approval Test (TAT) in July 2017, marking its readiness for commercial applications. In December 2019, WinGD launched new short-stroke versions, the X52-S2.0 and its dual-fuel counterpart X52DF-S1.0, designed for vessels with specific space constraints.
- The X52 is part of WinGD's Generation X low-speed engine series, which includes engines with bore sizes ranging from 35cm to 92cm. Within the X-series, the X52 sits as a medium-bore engine, positioned between smaller models like the X35 and X40, and larger engines such as the X62, X72, X82, and X92.
- The X52 is chosen for its high propulsion efficiency, low fuel consumption, and compliance with emission regulations. The short-stroke X52-S2.0 variant is particularly well-suited for vessels with shallow drafts, small propeller diameters, or low main deck heights, offering a compact design and reduced engine room height.
