- Kidde's heritage in carbon dioxide fire suppression dates back to 1917 when Walter Kidde acquired the patent for using CO2 in large fire suppression, particularly for ships. The first integrated smoke detection and CO2 extinguishing system for ships was produced in 1918, and the Lux extinguishing system, a shipboard CO2 system, was patented in 1923.
- The Total Flood CO2 Fixed FF System is part of Kidde Marine's High-Pressure (HP) CO2 fire suppression offerings. Kidde also provides Low-Pressure (LP) CO2 systems, such as the CARDOX™ system, which are designed for larger applications requiring over 5,000 lbs of CO2 or multiple discharge cycles.
- The Kidde Marine Total Flood CO2 Fixed FF System is chosen for its rapid fire suppression capabilities in unoccupied marine machinery spaces and enclosed hazards. It uses carbon dioxide, an electrically non-conductive gas, which dissipates without residue, minimizing cleanup and downtime.
