- The Safetec SDS-48 smoke detection system is the successor to the SDS-2/6 system, which was produced between 1995 and 2001. It was introduced as the second generation of Safetec's smoke detection systems.
- The SDS-48 is positioned as the second generation in Safetec's smoke detection system lineage, succeeding the SDS-2/6 and preceding the current SDS-72.
- The SDS-48 is designed for continual smoke monitoring in up to 48 cargo holds, utilizing existing CO2 fire extinguishing pipework for air sampling. It is explosion-protected and complies with FSS Code Chapter 10, IMO Rules, and SOLAS Chapter II-2, Regulation 13-1.
