- The Furuno FMD-3200 and FMD-3300 ECDIS systems were launched in the autumn of 2012. These models were introduced to meet the mandatory ECDIS carriage requirements that began phasing in from July 2012.
- The FMD-3200/3300 series sits as a high-end offering within Furuno's ECDIS range, providing advanced functionality and a multi-function display capability. The FMD-3100, introduced later in 2013, offers a similar user interface but with a single 24-inch display, and can serve as a cost-effective backup for the FMD-3200/3300.
- The FMD-3200/3300 is chosen for its intuitive new user interface, featuring a Status Bar and InstantAccess Bar for fast and precise route planning, monitoring, and navigation data management. It also boasts an advanced chart drawing engine that provides instantaneous chart redraws with seamless zooming and panning, aiming to make ECDIS operation stress-free.
