- The VTR series of turbochargers, a predecessor to the TPL generation, was initially launched in 1945 by Brown Boveri & Co (now Accelleron) with the VTR..0 model. This series was developed to meet the increasing demand for turbocharged engines in marine and rail transport sectors after World War II.
- The VTR 714 is part of the VTR series, which is designed for heavy-duty diesel and gas engines. Within the VTR series, models like the VTR 714 are among the larger offerings, catering to engines with higher power outputs compared to smaller models like the VTR 214 or VTR 304.
- The VTR 714 is chosen for its proven reliability and robust construction, particularly in marine propulsion engines and stationary power plants operating continuously with heavy oil. Its external, easily accessible bearings simplify and speed up servicing, allowing for rotor shaft removal without dismantling the compressor wheel or air and gas pipes.
| Model | Engine Output Range (kW per turbocharger) | Bearing Type | Compressor Type |
