- The Sigma Coatings brand, under which Sigma Vikote 18 is sold, was formed in 1972 through the merger of three companies, including Pieter Schoen & Sons, which began grinding pigments in the Netherlands in 1722. PPG acquired SigmaKalon, the expanded form of Sigma Coatings, in 2008.
- Sigma Vikote 18 is part of the broader Sigma Vikote range, which includes other products like Sigma Vikote 12 (a high-build vinyl primer) and Sigma Vikote 56 (a modified acrylic finish). While Sigma Vikote 18 is a chlorinated rubber primer/sealer, other products in the Vikote range offer different chemistries and applications, such as vinyl or acrylic coatings.
